Description

  • Own product changes from initial concept through production across the complete engineering lifecycle
  • Translate requirements into well-considered technical solutions
  • Develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality software in production
  • Use engineering principles, design patterns, separation of concerns, clean interfaces, and structured data models
  • Present and justify design decisions and technical trade-offs during reviews
  • Refactor code before merging and build components that can be extended over time
  • Implement full-stack changes across interfaces, services, and data with .NET, C#, SQL Server, and Azure
  • Take features through production using established platform patterns
  • Set acceptance criteria and assess coding-agent output against defined specifications
  • Keep repository context and development guidelines current
  • Create fast, dependable unit tests for core logic and edge cases while partnering with the Quality Engineer on broader testing
  • Design for performance, reliability, security, tenant isolation, scalability, and operational cost
  • Use source control, pull requests, and deployment pipelines to deliver changes
  • Monitor releases, join the on-call rotation, restore service during incidents, and resolve underlying causes
  • Review colleagues' work, help shape engineering standards, and contribute to knowledge sharing and constructive feedback

Requirements

  • At least five years of substantial commercial experience in software engineering or application development
  • Strong practical experience with C# and current .NET technologies
  • Experience with a JavaScript frontend framework or technology, preferably React
  • Hands-on experience building applications on Microsoft Azure
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server and relational database design
  • Solid understanding of SOLID principles and software design patterns
  • Ability to apply separation of concerns, clean interfaces, and maintainable architectural practices
  • Strong knowledge of unit testing and automated testing approaches
  • Proficiency with Git and contemporary source-control workflows
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, managing incidents, and supporting production applications
  • Understanding of software performance, reliability, security, scalability, and operational cost considerations
  • Strong technical and architectural judgement
  • Ability to explain the suitability of a design or technical approach and articulate its trade-offs
  • Ability to inspect, challenge, and improve existing code instead of accepting code solely because it works or passes tests
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfort taking ownership of features or problems from development through production
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a distributed engineering team
  • Willingness to take part in an on-call rotation
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is advantageous
  • Experience maintaining older .NET Framework applications is advantageous
  • Experience using coding agents or AI-assisted development tools is advantageous
  • Experience creating or improving engineering standards and development practices is advantageous
  • Experience collaborating within distributed or multi-location engineering teams is advantageous
