Senior Silicon Photonics Reliability Engineer - Albuquerque, Onsite

Advance silicon photonics reliability and qualification for Intel Foundry. Help ensure photonic products perform reliably from development through high-volume manufacturing.

Description

  • Assess and characterize intrinsic and extrinsic reliability across photonic devices, photonic integrated circuits, lasers, and integrated optical products
  • Create reliability models and acceleration methods using designed experiments, statistical analysis, and reliability testing
  • Improve reliability through process, design, and material optimization
  • Develop reliability characterization methods, screening approaches, and quality controls
  • Establish reliability, qualification, and certification requirements for emerging silicon photonics technologies and products
  • Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations using data-driven and model-based methods
  • Assess reliability risks and advise engineering and business stakeholders
  • Collaborate with technology development, process integration, design, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Support new technology introduction and transfer to high-volume manufacturing
  • Analyze large data sets with advanced statistical methods to uncover trends, opportunities, and reliability risks
  • Present technical conclusions and recommendations to engineering leaders, cross-functional stakeholders, and executive management
  • Help shape reliability strategy, best practices, and continuous improvement across Intel Foundry's Silicon Photonics organization

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Photonics/Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related STEM field plus 4+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD in the same field plus 2+ years of relevant industry experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in silicon photonics, photonic devices, optical devices, or integrated photonics technology development
  • At least 4 years of semiconductor device characterization, validation, yield, reliability, or test engineering experience
  • At least 4 years of experience with compound semiconductor processing and photonic device physics
  • At least 4 years of reliability engineering, qualification engineering, failure analysis, or technology development in semiconductor or photonics settings
  • A PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field with 2+ years of photonic device experience is preferred
  • Previous experience working in a semiconductor foundry is preferred
  • Understanding of process certification, product qualification, reliability risk assessment, quality systems, and quality culture
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics and defect mechanisms
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, process development, material characterization and development, and design validation
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor wafer fabrication processes and process integration
  • Understanding of reliability failure statistics, physical failure mechanisms, and failure analysis methods
  • Experience applying SPC and DOE principles, executing DOE studies, and conducting statistical analysis
  • Ability to extract and analyze data using JMP, Crystal Ball, ILM, REL, PCS, or SQL scripting
  • Understanding of photonic datacom and telecom reliability qualification standards, including Telcordia GR-468 and AEC-Q102
