Description

  • Design and maintain high-performance backend services for large-scale customer journeys
  • Own production-ready delivery within a small, autonomous engineering team
  • Address complex technical problems throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Build modern Scala applications using functional programming practices
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Business Analysis teams
  • Maintain the reliability and scalability of business-critical services on Google Cloud Platform
  • Develop highly available services that support customer onboarding across multiple digital channels

Requirements

  • Substantial commercial experience building backend applications with Scala
  • Strong command of the Scala language
  • Experience with the Typelevel ecosystem, including Cats, Cats-Effect, Http4s, and FS2, is advantageous
  • Background in Kafka or event-driven architecture
  • Experience developing cloud-native software, preferably with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with or interest in infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Experience implementing and consuming APIs
  • A track record of working effectively in a fast-growing environment
  • Strong product and user-experience focus with sound commercial judgment
  • Readiness to take ownership of code from development through production
  • Familiarity with Test Driven Development is beneficial
  • Fluent English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills
