Senior Risk Analyst / Associate Actuary – Economic Capital (Hybrid)

The Hartford is hiring a Senior Risk Analyst or Associate Actuary to support Economic Capital modeling, capital attribution, and risk-adjusted profitability analysis across property and casualty insurance lines.

Description

  • Support Economic Capital parameterization and capital attribution across all property and casualty insurance lines
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management and partners in Pricing, Reserving, Treasury, and Finance
  • Improve capital measurement methods, analytical capabilities, and reporting solutions
  • Increase the granularity of Economic Capital models and refine parameterization and capital attribution methods
  • Create and maintain insurance risk parameters for the Economic Capital model
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses on assumptions, risk characteristics, and capital requirements
  • Translate risk and capital consumption analyses into profitability insights
  • Evaluate how Economic Capital model enhancements affect capital attribution and risk-adjusted performance measures
  • Present Economic Capital and capital attribution findings to business partners, actuarial leaders, and other stakeholders
  • Provide analytical support for ad hoc capital, profitability, and risk-adjusted performance requests
  • Build subject-matter expertise in Economic Capital, capital attribution, and risk-adjusted performance

Requirements

  • At least four years of insurance-industry experience in actuarial work, risk, Economic Capital, enterprise risk management, or financial modeling
  • Advanced technical and analytical capabilities
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Experience handling large datasets and quantitative models
  • Experience with R, Python, or another programming language is a plus
  • Familiarity with Igloo modeling software is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to make technical concepts accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work effectively with business partners across functions
  • Innovative, results-focused approach with ownership and intellectual curiosity
