Senior Propulsion Thermal Management Engineer - 3D CFD

Develop thermal and multiphase CFD simulations for General Motors propulsion systems. Deliver design recommendations and automation tools that reduce reliance on hardware testing.

Description

  • Create innovative CFD simulations for electrification propulsion components.
  • Work in small teams on complex multiphase-flow and thermal simulations.
  • Use simulation insights to influence design and manufacturing processes while reducing hardware testing.
  • Recommend component- and system-level designs to Design Responsible Engineers.
  • Contribute to product design and development teams.
  • Present analysis findings to engineering peers and management.
  • Mentor colleagues and provide technical assistance.
  • Use analysis results to provide technical insight for resolving engineering problems.
  • Benchmark and assess new procedures, technologies, and software tools.
  • Help develop automation tools in Python or Java.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • At least five years of experience with CFD simulations.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing new CFD procedures.
  • Familiarity or practical experience with vehicle propulsion system design, operation, or testing.
  • At least two years of experience with STAR-CCM+ or Simerics-MP+ preferred.
  • At least two years of experience analyzing propulsion-related systems with CFD preferred.
  • Experience with CFD optimization tools preferred.
  • Experience correlating test results with simulation models preferred.
  • Experience programming in Python, Java, or equivalent languages preferred.
  • Experience with current CFD visualization techniques preferred.
  • Experience using Linux in distributed computing environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of Siemens NX CAD modeling preferred.
  • Role-related assessments and/or pre-employment screening may be required where applicable.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and report to Global HQ in Warren, Michigan, at least three times per week.
