Senior Property and Casualty Risk Analyst

Lead Issue Management oversight and risk analytics for USAA’s Property & Casualty portfolio. Assess remediation, analyze portfolio exposures, and inform insurance risk decisions.

Description

  • Own Second Line of Defense Issue Management oversight for the Property & Casualty portfolio
  • Manage the full issue review lifecycle independently
  • Assess supporting evidence and record well-supported conclusions
  • Analyze portfolio trends and challenge practices to strengthen risk management quality
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, audit, and business stakeholders across the P&C organization
  • Track remediation progress and evaluate risk exposures
  • Deliver actionable risk insights to leadership
  • Identify, assess, aggregate, and document risks and controls across new or changed products, services, distribution channels, regulations, and third-party operations
  • Present risk assessment findings to governance committees, process owners, and leadership
  • Apply risk policies, practices, appetites, and solutions
  • Improve the strategies, tools, and methods used to measure, monitor, and report risk
  • Prepare analytical materials for cross-functional discussions and solution development
  • Support teams in identifying, assessing, aggregating, and mitigating current and emerging risk events
  • Develop stress-testing plans, assess results, and define contingency plans
  • Contribute to portfolio analytics, reporting, and automation initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or a related field, or four years of relevant education and/or experience
  • Six years of risk management, regulatory, or operations experience in a relevant area such as banking, insurance, financial services, audit, project management, public accounting, or related operations
  • An advanced degree or designation in Risk Management, Business, Finance, or another relevant discipline plus four years of related work experience may be accepted as an alternative
  • Experience managing risk within a complex institution or highly matrixed environment
  • Professional experience in conflict resolution management
  • Ability to challenge decisions at all management levels and influence business outcomes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, data analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to make decisions based on data
  • Ability to anticipate potential concerns and follow through on issue resolution
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Property and Casualty insurance experience, with knowledge of risk management practices in Claims, Underwriting, Product, Distribution, or Go-to-Market functions
  • Experience leading or overseeing Issue Management programs, including issue identification, root cause analysis, remediation validation, corrective action tracking, and regulatory or audit commitments
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including experience extracting, cleaning, organizing, and interpreting large datasets
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, Power BI, and other analytical platforms
  • Experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, or Governance
