Senior Process Control Engineer, Capital Projects
Lead automation and process control work for Georgia-Pacific’s major manufacturing capital projects. This US-based remote role includes project travel of up to 75%.
Description
- Guide process control for major capital projects
- Help develop and select standard control technologies
- Advise on the technical scope of capital projects
- Serve as project discipline lead and lead engineer
- Prepare and review electrical project scopes, estimates, and schedules
- Develop conceptual and detailed engineering designs
- Evaluate bids and support vendor selection
- Provide field engineering during construction, startup, and commissioning
- Train operators, supervisors, and process control engineers
- Lead internal and external engineering teams on proposals, project delivery, and engineering standards
- Support the professional development of process control engineers
- Guide the selection of instrumentation specifications and control valves
- Lead or support checkout and startup of new or modified control systems and processes
- Provide support during forced and planned maintenance outages
- Work with operations support partners to deliver digital tools for long-term remote assistance
Requirements
- Bring at least five years of automation or process control experience
- Have experience with automation or process control using DCS systems
- Have experience leading automation projects and implementing project activities
- Understand the theory and practice of designing, building, operating, and maintaining continuous manufacturing processes
- Be able and willing to travel up to 75% of the time, depending on project needs
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical or electrical engineering is preferred
- Process control engineering experience on capital projects is preferred
- Leadership experience in automation or process control is preferred
- Proficiency with Honeywell Experion and/or Emerson DeltaV is preferred
- Experience with control systems in the pulp and paper industry is preferred
