Queue
Queue
Queue is a healthcare and pharmaceutical technology startup developing autonomous robotic pharmacy systems. Its kiosk-style units accept sealed wholesale medication bottles and dispense verified prescription vials with minimal human intervention, combining computer vision for pill identification, QR-code prescription verification, and AI-assisted inventory monitoring. Each unit is designed to stock roughly 250–280 commonly prescribed medications based on local demand and can fill a 60-pill vial in about 30 seconds. Queue is building pharmacy infrastructure intended to improve dispensing efficiency, reduce costs, and expand access in underserved areas. The company emerged from stealth following a seed round led by AlleyCorp and operates with a Silicon Valley team of around 20.

Senior or Staff Frontend Engineer

Build touch-first React interfaces for Queue’s prescription-filling robots. Establish frontend standards for machine and cloud operations software.

Description

  • Own the pharmacy machine operator interface and the product screens that follow
  • Build and maintain interfaces for prescription queues, medication and consumable replenishment, machine health, administration, exception handling, and keypad sign-in
  • Develop the machine’s React application while preserving fidelity to the approved design prototype
  • Partner closely with the product designer and engineers responsible for the on-machine software
  • Create touch-only interaction patterns for busy pharmacy technicians
  • Design interruption states for ambient status, attention requests, and blocking dialogs, including machine-fault alerts
  • Render server-owned domain state through the defined interface contract
  • Use TypeScript types generated from Rust and detect contract drift through build failures
  • Set and uphold frontend quality standards with unit tests, coverage tracking, browser-based end-to-end tests, and design-token linting
  • Define frontend standards for future screens, including the cloud operations dashboard
  • During the first 90 days, deliver screen changes, learn core technician workflows, join design reviews, establish interruption and testing practices, maintain design-to-application fidelity, prepare for security review, and scope the next dashboard

Requirements

  • Have owned a product surface used daily, from initial design through field issues, and improved it in response to failures
  • Demonstrate expert command of strict TypeScript and type design that prevents invalid states
  • Have experience with React 19 and the React Compiler
  • Understand and apply the Rules of React
  • Have built applications around server-owned state delivered over WebSocket
  • Have used Tailwind 4, Vite, Vitest, and Playwright
  • Have experience writing component tests and real-browser end-to-end tests
  • Can turn an evolving design prototype into production software
  • Understand touch interfaces on fixed devices, including large targets, application-rendered keypads, and safeguards against mistaps
  • Can model product behavior through explicit states and transitions
  • Accessibility knowledge, including WCAG 2.1 AA, and responsive web experience are a plus
  • Experience with embedded browsers, point-of-sale systems, or other constrained devices is a plus
  • Healthcare or regulated-industry experience is a plus
  • Experience creating a design system or frontend standard adopted by other engineers is a plus

Benefits

  • Join a small, high-trust team with minimal bureaucracy
  • Enjoy substantial autonomy and influence over the product
  • Own the operator screen end to end before taking responsibility for subsequent screens
  • Make a direct difference for pharmacy staff using the machine
  • Grow professionally by establishing the frontend standard for future screens
