Senior Mechanical Architect, North Carolina Remote

Lead mechanical and thermal architecture for Lenovo’s server, storage, networking, and AI data-center systems. Partner with suppliers, global delivery teams, supply chain stakeholders, and customers to bring future designs to market.

Description

  • Define next-generation mechanical architectures for general-purpose servers, HPC, high-availability storage, networking, and accelerator/AI systems serving hyperscale and cloud data centers.
  • Track emerging mechanical and thermal design trends and apply them to future products.
  • Create mechanical architectures for new chassis and subassemblies.
  • Analyze and model the thermal performance of new designs.
  • Prepare thermal and mechanical specifications for suppliers.
  • Coordinate mechanical and thermal design execution with suppliers and China-based Product Delivery teams.
  • Work with Lenovo Global Supply Chain to improve design cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance to the China Product Delivery team during issue resolution.
  • Work directly with customers.

Requirements

  • Bring at least 10 years of mechanical or thermal design experience.
  • Use mechanical and thermal design tools such as PTC Creo, Pro/ENGINEER, and FloTHERM.
  • Communicate effectively in technical and cross-functional settings.
  • Have strong knowledge of server and storage systems and their components.
  • Demonstrate experience working with multinational, cross-functional teams.
  • Use Microsoft Office tools including Project, Excel, and PowerPoint fluently.
  • Apply strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
