Description

  • Design and maintain secure, scalable backend services and REST APIs
  • Connect third-party platforms and SaaS products
  • Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on AWS
  • Assess AI-generated code for security, performance, and maintainability
  • Refactor and modernize existing services
  • Create automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and observability
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues
  • Carry requirements through to production with minimal supervision
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders during UK business hours

Requirements

  • Substantial commercial experience in a senior, hands-on software engineering role
  • Strong practical experience building and maintaining production-grade backend applications with Node.js
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
  • Practical experience designing, deploying, and maintaining applications on AWS
  • Strong backend engineering skills across API development, system integration, and software architecture
  • Experience with databases, data modeling, automated testing, CI/CD, and Git
  • An AI-native development workflow, using Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools daily
  • Experience applying AI agents throughout the SDLC, including planning, implementation, debugging, refactoring, testing, and delivery
  • Ability to review, debug, and secure code, including code generated by AI
  • Track record of working independently, owning delivery, and making sound technical decisions
  • Availability during UK business hours
  • Fluent written and spoken English is required
  • Preferred: experience in fintech, payments, fraud, credit, or another regulated sector
  • Preferred: experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms and external APIs
  • Preferred: experience with cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and production operations
