Description

  • Lead a portfolio of technology projects and developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems
  • Design solutions that satisfy Capital One’s regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and engage with internal and external technology communities
  • Mentor engineers across the engineering community
  • Work with digital product managers to deliver dependable cloud-based solutions
  • Build with Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, relational and NoSQL databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS services
  • Provide technical leadership across Agile engineering teams
  • Establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence
  • Collaborate with architects on service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks
  • Target technical debt through focused refactoring and improve system performance
  • Shape long-term technology strategy by assessing new tools and practices in a you-build-it-you-own-it environment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related quantitative discipline, such as statistics, economics, operations research, analytics, mathematics, or engineering
  • At least four years of software engineering experience, excluding internships
  • At least two years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies
  • New applicants are not eligible for employer-sponsored immigration or work authorization support
  • A master’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred
  • Seven or more years of coding experience across at least two of Go, Java, JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, and Scala is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience with databases and database management systems is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, cloud productivity tools, or virtualization technologies is preferred
  • Four or more years of experience contributing to open-source frameworks is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience with front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks is preferred
  • Four or more years of experience developing synchronous and asynchronous APIs is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience using Git-based version-control systems is preferred
  • Three or more years of experience troubleshooting technical issues in cloud environments is preferred
  • Experience with modern AI-assisted coding tools and IDE copilots is preferred
  • At least one year of experience mentoring engineers and supporting professional development within technical teams is preferred
  • At least one year of experience using observability to find and address performance bottlenecks in distributed systems is preferred
  • Experience with interactive AI tools beyond basic code completion is preferred
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering work or large-scale technical initiatives is preferred
  • Experience defining and enforcing coding standards and design patterns across teams is preferred
