Senior Field Property Claims Adjuster - Binghamton, NY
Farmers Insurance is seeking a senior field property claims adjuster to investigate, assess, and resolve claims in the Binghamton, New York territory. The role includes inspecting homes and vehicles and assisting policyholders throughout the assigned area.
Description
- Investigate property claims and assess liability
- Verify coverage and document resulting damages
- Provide claim updates and negotiate settlements within authorized payment limits
- Handle a broad range of property claims
- Inspect damaged properties and vehicles to identify claim-related losses
- Calculate repair or replacement costs for damaged or stolen property and vehicles
- Assess and document potential subrogation opportunities
- Coordinate the disposition of salvage vehicles, personal property, and other salvage items
- Report theft, fraud, and arson losses to state and industry authorities when required
- Travel to policyholder residences across the Binghamton, New York territory
- Coordinate with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, repair shops, contractors, law enforcement, fire departments, investigators, attorneys, expert witnesses, medical professionals, and other involved parties
- Take part in catastrophe deployments away from home, typically lasting 23 days
- Follow company safety practices and ergonomic requirements
- Represent Farmers Insurance professionally and complete additional assigned responsibilities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- A bachelor's degree is preferred
- Insurance credentials such as CPCU or GCA are preferred
- Complete the Senior Claims Representative prerequisites, proficiency requirements, and examinations applicable to the assigned unit
- External applicants need at least one year of claims experience or two years in a related industry
- Hold an active adjuster's license in states where licensing is required
- Strong communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Valid driver's license
- Must be bondable
- Residence within the Binghamton, New York hiring territory is required
- Participate in one to three catastrophe deployments each year
- Able to carry up to 50 pounds and perform bending, pulling, sorting, pushing, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, kneeling, keyboarding, reading, speaking, seeing, and writing in English
- Able to work outdoors and in field settings involving uncontrolled conditions, high noise, chemicals, moving machinery, hazardous areas, and respiratory or skin irritants
