Senior EDW Data Architect – Czechia Remote

Lead enterprise data warehouse architecture for regulated banking clients, with a focus on Teradata, governance, data modelling, SQL validation, and delivery support. This remote Czechia contract combines architectural ownership with hands-on technical analysis.

Description

  • Lead and support data architecture for enterprise data warehouse delivery
  • Evaluate source data, data flows, business requirements, and downstream consumption needs
  • Investigate Teradata SQL, conduct detailed technical analysis, and validate proposed solutions
  • Partner with business stakeholders, domain teams, engineers, testers, delivery leads, and fellow architects
  • Compare design approaches and recommend practical, scalable solutions aligned with standards
  • Create and maintain High Level Designs, Architecture Design Decisions, solution options, design rationale, assumptions, risks, and governance-ready documentation
  • Present architecture designs and recommendations to Architecture Boards and other governance forums
  • Build governance, metadata, lineage, controls, reconciliation, auditability, privacy, and regulatory compliance into solution designs
  • Contribute to metadata-driven delivery frameworks
  • Guide delivery teams through build, testing, implementation, and issue resolution
  • Spend approximately half of the role on hands-on SQL investigation, data analysis, solution validation, and delivery support

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in data engineering and architecture
  • At least 5 years in data architecture, either as a Data Architect or senior Data Engineering Lead with clear ownership of architecture
  • Extensive hands-on Teradata experience in an on-premises enterprise data warehouse
  • Advanced Teradata SQL skills covering querying, data investigation, issue analysis, and technical validation
  • Practical experience with the Teradata Financial Services Data Model or an equivalent financial services model
  • Strong knowledge of EDW design, data marts, data integration patterns, and large-scale data platform delivery
  • Background in banking, financial services, or regulatory data environments
  • Knowledge of BCBS 239, RDARR, regulatory reporting, data traceability, auditability, and evidence-based control design
  • Strong capabilities in data analysis and data modelling
  • Demonstrated ability to create governance-ready HLDs and ADDs and present them to Architecture Boards
  • Strong stakeholder management, independent ownership, constructive challenge, and decision-making skills
  • Mandatory: Teradata on-premises EDW and advanced SQL
  • Mandatory: Teradata FSDM or an equivalent financial services data model
  • Mandatory: Inmon-style integrated EDW architecture
  • Experience with ETL delivery processes and tools, preferably Informatica and/or DataStage
  • Experience with metadata-driven ingestion, transformation, control, and reconciliation frameworks
  • Experience with Control-M or a comparable batch scheduling and orchestration tool
  • Desirable: Teradata Global Control Framework or a similar control framework
  • Desirable: Cloudera or a comparable big data platform
  • Desirable: modern hybrid warehouse and lake architecture patterns
  • Desirable: experience with data observability, operational resilience, and production support
  • Desirable: broader hands-on data engineering experience
