Senior DevOps Engineer - Pennsylvania (Remote)

Support Nuuly’s clothing-rental platform by scaling GCP infrastructure with Kubernetes and Kafka. Automate deployments, strengthen observability, and improve system reliability.

Description

  • Develop and maintain features that improve system capabilities
  • Provide deep technical guidance to business teams adopting engineering-built solutions
  • Scale production infrastructure smoothly while proactively managing growth needs
  • Design and operate highly available Google Cloud infrastructure across Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Confluent Kafka
  • Partner with software engineers to build efficient CI/CD pipelines and automate application releases
  • Create monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to protect infrastructure health, performance, and security
  • Tune Kafka messaging infrastructure for event-driven architectures and improved system performance
  • Work with cross-functional teams to find and resolve performance bottlenecks
  • Apply current security practices and threat mitigations across cloud infrastructure and applications
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and application problems alongside developers
  • Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure, deployments, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Follow developments in cloud, Kubernetes, and DevOps and recommend infrastructure enhancements

Requirements

  • At least three years of hands-on DevOps engineering experience focused on cloud infrastructure
  • Knowledge of streaming data and distributed-systems design using asynchronous brokers such as Kafka
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience designing and operating GCP infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, networking, and IAM
  • Experience deploying, monitoring, scaling, and troubleshooting Kubernetes environments
  • Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GCP and GitHub Actions
  • Understanding of Kafka components such as ZooKeeper and brokers, plus Kafka producer and consumer optimization
  • Proficiency with YAML and structured configuration for infrastructure and application deployments
  • Proficiency in Python, Bash, or Shell scripting
  • Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration
  • Knowledge of cloud security practices and compliance standards
