Senior DevOps Engineer - Hybrid in Colorado Springs

TheIncLab is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to oversee Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and reliability for AI solutions. This hybrid role supports mission-critical defense and aerospace applications.

Description

  • Lead DevOps operations with a focus on Kubernetes administration and site reliability engineering
  • Oversee deployments, uptime, performance, and observability across environments
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and production operations
  • Partner with developers and QA to establish dependable paths from local development through production
  • Administer self-hosted GitLab instances with a focus on security and performance
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance pipelines with GitLab CI/CD or comparable tools
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and maintenance with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or related technologies
  • Apply infrastructure-as-code practices across AWS, Kubernetes, bare-metal, and other environments
  • Create and operate monitoring, alerting, and observability systems
  • Handle incidents, lead root cause analyses, and introduce preventive improvements
  • Define and refine SLOs and SLIs to measure system reliability
  • Join the on-call rotation and develop automation that reduces manual intervention
  • Lead capacity planning, performance optimization, and cloud cost-efficiency efforts
  • Promote and deploy Helm packages to the appropriate production environments
  • Investigate environment-specific problems and facilitate communication across teams
  • Apply and enforce infrastructure security practices covering IAM, RBAC, and least privilege
  • Design configuration management systems that operate consistently across environments

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering
  • Hands-on proficiency with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, and IAM
  • Experience automating infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, or comparable technologies
  • Experience deploying and managing infrastructure with Helm, Kubernetes, Terraform, and/or Ansible
  • Strong Linux systems administration knowledge
  • Strong Windows systems administration skills
  • Demonstrated experience administering and automating GitLab, including CI/CD pipelines
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python or Bash
  • Experience delivering monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions with tools including CloudWatch, Datadog, and CloudTrail
  • Solid understanding of networking, security practices, and highly available system design
  • Familiarity with Git and GitLab workflows
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident response capabilities centered on automation and root cause analysis
  • AWS certification or equivalent practical experience preferred
  • CKA certification or equivalent Kubernetes experience preferred
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and efficiency practices preferred
  • Experience with self-hosted GitLab environments and CI/CD pipelines preferred
  • Experience with EKS or Rubix Cluster preferred
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must be willing and eligible to obtain a Secret or Top Secret U.S. security clearance
