Senior Design and Construction Manager at US Foods

Lead facility design and construction projects for US Foods, from feasibility and budgeting through construction and closeout. Coordinate internal teams, consultants, and contractors across distribution, food service, and office facilities.

Description

  • Lead facility design and construction projects to US Foods standards across distribution centers, retail stores, kitchens, food processing facilities, and offices.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and performance specifications.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and multidisciplinary consultants.
  • Contribute to facility prototypes, standards, and optimization programs.
  • Support procurement approaches and program and project management tools for design and construction.
  • Improve departmental processes and tools.
  • Forecast and develop capital projects for internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and establish project goals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Define project teams, responsibilities, delivery approaches, consultants, and contractors.
  • Oversee site planning, approvals, building design, design reviews, bidding, change orders, schedule and budget reviews, and construction quality.
  • Manage consultant and contractor payments, punch lists, and project closeout.
  • Evaluate consultant, contractor, and project team performance.
  • Analyze project outcomes after completion.
  • Prepare project reports for senior management.
  • Partner with other US Foods departments on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Benchmark industry practices and assess innovative approaches.
  • Lead project team members without direct reporting relationships.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in architectural design, construction management, or project management for industrial or distribution center projects.
  • Office project experience is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills.
  • Clear spoken and written communication.
  • Leadership ability, including setting expectations, delegating responsibilities, and empowering team members.
  • Sensitivity to architectural and landscape design and brand integration.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Commitment to quality.
  • Strategic thinking and openness to new technologies.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Technical expertise in program and project management, building design, and general construction.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows; Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Office 365, and SharePoint; Visio; and AutoCAD or TruView.
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight to construction sites at least 25% and up to 50% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or project management.
