Senior Civil Engineer, Water Resources and Underground Utilities, Charlotte, NC

Senior Civil Engineer responsible for designing water, wastewater, stormwater, and underground utility infrastructure for STV. The role supports municipal and private-sector projects from planning and permitting through construction coordination and inspections.

Description

  • Develop preliminary layouts for facility plans, stormwater systems, underground utilities, grading, and drainage using survey data and field investigations.
  • Produce design and construction plans and specifications for municipal facilities, stormwater and open-channel drainage systems, roadways, potable water, and sewer infrastructure.
  • Design and coordinate water, wastewater, power, gas, and fiber-optic utilities and resolve utility interactions on major water and roadway improvement projects.
  • Conduct construction-phase engineering inspections, including inspections related to utility relocations.
  • Prepare utility plans, profiles, specifications, and cost estimates, and review shop drawings and contractor change requests.
  • Lead stakeholder reporting and coordinate with NCDOT, municipalities, utility owners, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support permitting, easement, right-of-way, and construction-phase activities by preparing applications, supporting documentation, and inspection materials.
  • Maintain complete project records throughout each project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years of experience in civil, water and wastewater, or utility engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience developing construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects.
  • Experience performing field assessments and investigations for preliminary engineering studies.
  • Experience designing water and wastewater pipelines and coordinating utility relocations.
  • NCDOT or municipal infrastructure experience is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads is preferred.
