Senior Backend Software Engineer — Paris (Hybrid)

Description

  • Develop and run backend services on field devices, covering camera communications, NX Witness integration, and local SQLite storage.
  • Improve CPU, memory, and 4G/5G efficiency across resource-constrained units.
  • Investigate production devices through SSH and log analysis, and lead incident triage across the fleet.
  • Build and operate Hono APIs, event-driven LavinMQ workers, and the Postgres/Drizzle data layer.
  • Control fleet operations from the cloud, coordinate processing, and ensure lossless resynchronization after network disruptions.
  • Deploy and maintain systems with GitHub Actions, Helm, GKE, and Datadog monitoring and alerting.
  • Take shared ownership of video enforcement and ANPR initiatives from technical design through production delivery.
  • Design the common ingestion and edge-to-cloud platform layer.
  • Resolve production incidents across edge and cloud environments independently.
  • Author, review, and challenge architecture decision records.
  • Deliver tested modules while strengthening critical workers and processing pipelines.
  • Work within monorepo standards based on moon, bun, and ten bounded contexts.

Requirements

  • Bring 4–8 years of backend engineering experience, including substantial work in SaaS.
  • Have production experience with TypeScript and Node.js and be ready to contribute operationally from the outset.
  • Have built and operated event-driven distributed systems in production, including message buses, workers, idempotency, retries, structured logging, monitoring, and incident response.
  • Hold an engineering degree or a master’s degree.
  • Show curiosity about systems, networks, and communication protocols.
  • Use AI coding tools as part of your development workflow while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Video or streaming expertise, or experience in IoT, embedded systems, or robotics, is advantageous but not required.
  • Infrastructure and DevOps experience is valued but not required.
