Senior Analytics Engineer – Portugal Remote

Lead analytics engineering for Numan’s digital health platform by developing dbt models and strengthening data strategy. Support AI-enabled insights across commercial, clinical, marketing, and patient-outcome data.

Description

  • Build and maintain scalable, thoroughly tested dbt models that support analytics across commercial, marketing, health-outcome, and clinical-operations domains.
  • Provide senior technical leadership for analytics engineering standards covering data modelling, testing, documentation, and code quality.
  • Own analytical projects from initial scoping through delivery by managing dependencies, tracking risks and critical paths, and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Coach data scientists and analysts in data modelling while promoting code review, shared standards, and continuous learning across the data team.
  • Work with clinical, commercial, and product partners to turn complex domain needs into reliable, clearly documented data models.
  • Assess and promote AI-driven analytics tools, helping define Numan’s approach to emerging technology and adoption.
  • Strengthen data quality, reliability, and governance in the transformation layer by monitoring usage and addressing issues before they affect stakeholders.
  • Report to the Head of Data Engineering and work closely with data scientists, analysts, and teams across the business.

Requirements

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, business intelligence, or a related role.
  • Experience owning end-to-end data model design across multiple business areas, ideally including at least two of commercial, marketing, health outcomes, or clinical and operational analytics.
  • Strong stakeholder-management ability and confidence explaining complex technical topics to non-technical clinical and commercial audiences.
  • Experience establishing technical standards and producing high-quality work within a small, high-performing data team.
  • A self-directed, pragmatic approach focused on high-impact solutions rather than unnecessary complexity.
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging analytics technologies, with an interest in influencing how Numan applies them.
  • Advanced SQL expertise, including window functions, CTEs, complex aggregations, and optimisation for cloud data warehouses.
  • Extensive dbt experience across models, macros, tests, packages, documentation, exposures, and CI/CD.
