Senior Analytical Engineer, PCB Plating

Analyze plating solutions and printed circuit board samples for MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions. Support troubleshooting, product development, quality control, and customer technical service.

Description

  • Analyze plating baths for additives, contaminants, and metal concentrations using routine and advanced chemical methods.
  • Examine PCB samples for physical and microstructural characteristics, including cross-sections, thickness, surface morphology, and defects.
  • Investigate process issues and failures to identify causes related to plating chemistry or operating conditions.
  • Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments, including ICP, HPLC, XRF, SEM, and elongation equipment.
  • Develop and refine analytical methods and testing procedures.
  • Report analytical findings, trends, and recommendations to technical stakeholders.
  • Work with application engineers and customers on product development, qualification, and process optimization.
  • Follow laboratory safety practices, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Interpret results and recommend solutions while supporting customer samples, pilot runs, and troubleshooting cases.
  • Contribute to improvement efforts in analytical capability, lab efficiency, and data quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • One to two years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and adapt to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of chemical analysis for plating solutions and physical analysis of PCB samples.
  • Experience with or knowledge of titration, spectroscopy, chromatography, ICP, HPLC, XRF, SEM, and elongation analysis.
  • Ability to perform cross-section, thickness, surface morphology, and defect analyses.
  • Ability to maintain and calibrate analytical equipment.
  • Ability to develop and optimize analytical methods and testing procedures.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and interpret analytical data.
