Risk Management Analyst – Toronto, Hybrid

Support American Express Canadian Card underwriting through risk analytics, reporting, and governance. Analyze risk data and help strengthen credit and fraud risk controls.

Description

  • Review cases and analyze data across multiple tables and sources to identify trends, investigate data quality issues, and support KRI monitoring.
  • Coordinate governance activities, including contract management, by organizing information, responding to stakeholders, and helping meet governance requirements on schedule.
  • Prepare monthly MIS and management reports while identifying opportunities to simplify and automate reporting processes.
  • Apply local market conditions, macroeconomic and industry trends, and emerging developments to improve global processes, models, and strategies.
  • Partner with Credit & Fraud Risk Centers of Excellence to improve credit decisions, reinforce credit policies, and advance risk controls and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, statistics, mathematics, econometrics, data science, operations research, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Strong programming ability, with experience structuring complex analyses across multiple large data sources.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership, problem-solving, and analytical capability, including the ability to turn data into insights and actionable strategies.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and intellectually curious approach to work.
  • Strong project-management skills and the ability to oversee several projects at the same time.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Eligibility to work for American Express is required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued.
  • A master’s degree in an analytical discipline or experience in risk management, decision science, or data analytics is preferred.
