Remote Staff Accountant – GR8 Global

Work remotely on outsourced accounting, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting for nonprofit and for-profit clients, with a focus on the cannabis industry.

Description

  • Handle rotational assignments in outsourced accounting and fractional practice, setting goals with the Accounting Manager.
  • Process payables, receivables, payroll, reconciliations, compliance, and financial reports.
  • Code and enter invoices and accounting data, reconcile vendor accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Set up vendors and manage W-9 forms.
  • Post customer payments, prepare client invoices, record revenue, and monitor outstanding receivables.
  • Run client payroll and manage benefits, tax, and wage-garnishment deductions.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and files.
  • Download third-party payroll transactions for tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare periodic and year-end reports for state and federal agencies.
  • Ensure W-2 reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Use accounting practice tools such as Bill.com, ADP RUN, and ADP WorkforceNOW.
  • Help prepare monthly client financial statements and reports for clients and boards of directors.
  • Support nonprofit and for-profit organizations, particularly in the cannabis industry.
  • Work across outsourced accounting and fractional practice rotational assignments, developing plans and measurable goals with the Accounting Manager.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent training is required.
  • Prior experience with payroll, payables, receivables, and reconciliations is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 2010 or later, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting systems; QuickBooks desktop and online, and Intacct, are preferred.
  • Must meet additional technology requirements shared with selected candidates on an ongoing basis.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • A collaborative, positive, can-do approach.
  • Effective time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn and quickly apply new technologies and systems.
  • Consistently deliver accurate assignments on time.
  • Understanding of accounting practices and regulations, with the ability to apply them accurately.
  • Ability to plan and implement system and process changes effectively and accurately.
  • A demonstrated client-focused approach.
  • Internet service with a minimum speed of 50–100 Mbps.
  • A dedicated, private, quiet home office area.
  • Backup power and internet access for business continuity.
