Remote Chief Technology Officer, Banking and Fintech

Lead technology modernization for MVB’s regulated banking infrastructure and Fintech-as-a-Service platform. Own architecture, security, vendors, and operations across payments, lending, and embedded finance.

Description

  • Help shape the vision, strategic direction, and leadership of MVB’s technology organization
  • Build and advance a multiyear modernization roadmap covering core banking and legacy-system retirement
  • Maintain infrastructure that gives Fintech partners reliable service, strong security, and regulatory controls
  • Design resilient, maintainable systems that promote reuse, reduce complexity, and enable future capabilities
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical assessments, and build-versus-buy-or-partner decisions
  • Act as the technical authority for cross-functional features, new products, platform changes, and major refactoring
  • Set technology direction for MVB’s Banking-as-a-Service platform, including payments, card issuance, money movement, and embedded finance
  • Enable the secure onboarding and growth of Fintech partners
  • Work with Information Security, AI and Data Governance, Risk, and Compliance teams to sustain controls and regulatory readiness
  • Oversee business continuity, disaster recovery, audit and examination preparation, and remediation of third-party findings
  • Identify, assess, and negotiate long-term agreements with technology vendors and solution providers
  • Manage vendor and partner portfolios spanning core banking, Fintech infrastructure, and enterprise systems
  • Ensure technology vendor initiatives are delivered on schedule and within budget
  • Lead enterprise applications and IT Operations across core banking, Digital, Lending, networks, servers, telephony, and help desk environments
  • Build and develop technology support capabilities for traditional banking and Fintech operations
  • Explain technology strategy, risk, and trade-offs clearly to nontechnical stakeholders
  • Manage the technology budget and align team priorities with strategic objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • At least 15 years of relevant technology leadership experience
  • Proven leadership of enterprise technology modernization, including cloud migration and legacy-system transformation
  • Hands-on technical experience contributing to architecture, security, and platform decisions
  • Background in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry
  • Working knowledge of banking and payments regulations and compliance requirements
  • Leadership ability to plan, direct, report on, and develop technology teams
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Direct experience with Banking-as-a-Service, embedded finance, payments, or card issuance platforms
  • Broad knowledge of modern information systems, including cloud infrastructure, API architecture, cybersecurity, and data platforms
  • Residence in West Virginia, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., New York, New Jersey, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia, or South Dakota
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline
  • Preferred: Experience supporting Fintech partnerships or a Fintech-facing platform in a regulated setting
  • Preferred: Familiarity with AI and machine-learning tools for improving operational efficiency in banking
