Remote Accounting Team Lead at Ryder

Ryder seeks a remote Accounting Team Lead to oversee general ledger operations, AP/AR, financial close, compliance, and accounting staff. The role supports accurate reporting, internal controls, and process improvement across the business.

Description

  • Lead and support the accounting team
  • Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting transactions
  • Validate AP transactions, accruals, and account coding
  • Review information used for excise tax filings
  • Validate monthly rent schedules covering rent, CAM, and related costs
  • Oversee SG&A accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review reconciliations while resolving open items
  • Calculate quarterly sales commission payments and maintain amortization schedules
  • Ensure the general ledger remains accurate and complete
  • Investigate and correct accounting discrepancies
  • Work with internal teams to resolve accounting matters and provide guidance
  • Help maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls, GAAP, and applicable accounting standards
  • Support senior and executive management with special projects and financial analysis
  • Train, coach, and assess accounting associates
  • Approve weekly timecards for direct reports
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and process improvement efforts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • At least 5–7 years of accounting experience
  • Prior experience supervising staff or leading a team
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP or accounting platforms such as SAP, Workday, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or comparable systems; Workday is preferred
  • BlackLine account reconciliation experience is preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to meet close deadlines while balancing competing priorities
