Project and Reliability Engineer - Mountain Top, PA

Lead capital projects, automation initiatives, and reliability improvements at Norsk Hydro’s aluminium extrusion plant in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. Help deliver safer, more efficient, and more dependable manufacturing operations.

Description

  • Develop and oversee plant projects that support safe, efficient, and reliable operations
  • Direct the design, planning, coordination, and delivery of capital and reliability improvement projects
  • Lead a major capital initiative replacing the current anodizing process with a new two-step process
  • Manage furnace modernization work to improve throughput, reliability, and overall plant performance
  • Support the safety-focused Die Shop Caustic System project
  • Drive continuous improvement, capital, and reliability initiatives that increase equipment uptime, efficiency, and plant performance
  • Work with maintenance, production, engineering, corporate teams, contractors, and external vendors
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, program, and procedure documentation
  • Oversee the plant automation program and contribute to automation initiatives
  • Provide dotted-line guidance to plant PLC technicians and specialists, including project assignments and progress reviews
  • Manage several capital projects simultaneously from planning and budgeting through contractor coordination, execution, commissioning, and closeout
  • Find equipment reliability opportunities, analyze recurring failures, and develop solutions that reduce downtime and improve operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • At least three years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Experience managing industrial capital projects
  • Working knowledge of equipment reliability, root cause analysis, and initiatives to reduce downtime
  • Experience in manufacturing, metals, extrusion, heavy industry, chemical processing, or a comparable production environment
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, along with industrial equipment troubleshooting
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, AutoCAD or SolidWorks, and Microsoft Project effectively
  • Exposure to automation systems, Rockwell platforms, and AutoCAD preferred
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees, contractors, and vendors across all organizational levels
  • Ability to design or modify mechanical and control systems for new or existing equipment
  • Ability to direct controls engineers developing machine control software
  • Ability to promote Health & Safety objectives and ensure compliance with company PPE standards
  • Must complete required training
