Principal Software Engineer, Linux Virtualization and Confidential Computing — Red Hat, Bangalore Hybrid

Lead Linux virtualization and confidential-computing development at Red Hat in a principal engineering role. Drive enterprise open-source work across kernels, containers, cloud platforms, and related technologies.

Description

  • Develop Linux and container technologies for Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Design, implement, validate, and support Virtualization Stack and Confidential Computing capabilities
  • Contribute to kernel virtualization, firmware and device emulation, management layers, guest-instance technologies, and public-cloud equivalents
  • Advance Confidential Computing in the Linux kernel and its ecosystem across containers, clusters, and virtual machines
  • Contribute to upstream and downstream projects
  • Own the full lifecycle from design and upstream development through downstream validation, packaging, L3 troubleshooting, and support
  • Help resolve problems, maintain engineering quality, address vulnerabilities, and backport fixes to released versions
  • Lead the creation of innovative technical solutions
  • Serve as a technical leader and advocate for customers
  • Work with Agile Scrum teams and globally distributed open-source communities

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience applying Python, C, Rust, or Go in large enterprise projects
  • Demonstrated ability to design and architect complex operating-system-level features
  • Experience debugging, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems for enterprise customers
  • Ability to use containers and CI/CD technologies to create, build, and automate build and test pipelines
  • For virtualization roles, experience with the Linux virtualization stack, including KVM, QEMU, Libvirt, and related technologies
  • For virtualization roles, experience with cloud or Kubernetes technologies
  • For Confidential Computing roles, experience with CNCF confidential-container technologies
  • Ability to use AI-assisted development or validation tools and techniques
  • Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to collaborate with globally distributed teams or communities
  • Open-source collaboration experience, public code contributions, conference presentations, or published technical writing is a plus
