Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer - Torrance, CA (Hybrid)

Lead advanced welding and manufacturing process improvements for aerospace production in a hybrid Torrance role at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies. Apply technical leadership, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve quality, productivity, and operational performance.

Description

  • Direct advanced welding operations to maintain high standards for quality, efficiency, and output
  • Provide expert technical leadership across advanced manufacturing processes
  • Guide cross-functional initiatives that improve manufacturing performance and productivity
  • Create and deploy welding processes that support efficient production and ongoing improvement
  • Assess emerging technologies for potential use in manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support business priorities
  • Review manufacturing data and performance metrics, then implement corrective improvements
  • Monitor developments and new technologies across advanced manufacturing
  • Coach and support team members through technical guidance and mentorship

Requirements

  • U.S. person status is required, including U.S. citizenship, permanent residency, or protected status under asylum or refugee provisions
  • At least six years of experience welding aerospace components
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated background in advanced manufacturing, welding process optimization, and lean manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of TIG welding, electron beam welding, welding automation, and related methods
  • Knowledge of AWS D17.1 and AMS2750 standards
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing concepts and symbols
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Experience coordinating multiple projects in a fast-moving global environment
  • Documented success delivering projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Advanced engineering degrees such as mechanical, electrical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience leading process improvements and delivering measurable results
  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to put innovative solutions into practice
  • Experience programming robotic welding systems
  • Experience with NX or comparable software
  • Experience welding aluminum, titanium, and Inconel aerospace components
  • Experience designing work-holding fixtures and refining welding setups for aerospace parts
