Poison Control Specialist (RN) – Onsite, Part-Time

Advise healthcare professionals and the public on toxic exposures, medications, and treatment guidance as a Poison Control Specialist/RN. Document inquiries and support education for students and residents at UAMS.

Description

  • Deliver prompt clinical information and recommendations to healthcare providers and members of the public about toxic or potentially toxic exposures within APDIC’s designated region.
  • Answer callers’ questions about medications.
  • Provide information and treatment recommendations for toxic or potentially toxic exposures.
  • Document inquiries in electronic medical records and keep records current.
  • Educate callers about toxic substances and medications.
  • Support the education and instruction of professional students and residents.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Be able to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrate strong reading, writing, and computer skills.
  • Emergency department or critical care nursing experience is preferred.
  • New RN graduates with previous Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience in emergency or critical care settings may also be considered.
  • Submit a curriculum vitae.
  • Complete a criminal background check and substance abuse testing.
  • Provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
