Part-Time Emergency Medicine Research Associate

Part-time Research Associate supporting emergency medicine research at the University of Alberta. Leads methodology, statistical analysis, collaboration, publications, workshops, and supervision of junior research staff.

Description

  • Collaborate with the Emergency Medicine Research Group and its Director
  • Lead research activities and provide managerial oversight for research projects
  • Deliver high-level methodological guidance
  • Coordinate with biostatisticians, methodologists, and international collaborators
  • Develop proposals, grant applications, and contract proposals
  • Lead adoption of new research methods and emergency medicine innovation programs
  • Establish standard operating procedures for data management and analysis
  • Oversee research analysis and develop statistical analysis plans
  • Perform quality analysis and assurance while creating databases and data-entry protocols
  • Design experiments, data-collection procedures, and research standards
  • Contribute to presentations, manuscripts, and research reports
  • Organize virtual and in-person workshops and committee meetings
  • Share research activities and present findings at meetings, seminars, and conferences
  • Conduct and oversee data cleaning, management, and statistical analysis
  • Supervise junior Research Assistants and Research Associates on case report forms, protocols, ethics submissions, and reviews

Requirements

  • MD and a graduate degree in a related health discipline, such as epidemiology, biostatistics, health outcomes, or population health research
  • Demonstrated research productivity and achievement
  • Very strong spoken and written English skills
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Office, and internet applications
  • Demonstrated experience in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research
  • Ability to work within short timelines and meet strict schedules and deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in at least two of SAS, SPSS, or STATA
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong team-based leadership abilities
