Part-Time Corporate Accountant (Hybrid, Burnaby)

Ideal Siding is seeking a part-time Corporate Accountant to oversee accounting operations, reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis. This hybrid position is connected to the company’s Burnaby office.

Description

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting and daily bookkeeping across the organization
  • Keep general ledger records accurate and complete bank, credit card, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations
  • Assist with accounts receivable, payroll administration, and required GST, HST, and tax reporting
  • Maintain comprehensive financial records and post transactions accurately and promptly
  • Compile monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports for the Director of Finance
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end closing, including reconciliations, adjusting entries, and working papers
  • Help develop budgets and forecasts, perform variance analysis, and clearly explain significant differences
  • Review financial results across entities or locations to uncover discrepancies, trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Help maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and consistent procedures throughout the organization
  • Assemble documentation and schedules for year-end reviews, audits, and other external accounting requirements
  • Recommend ways to simplify, standardize, or automate accounting processes and reporting
  • Partner with the Director of Finance and internal teams to resolve accounting issues and strengthen financial information quality

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline from a recognized university
  • Three to five years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience covering reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis
  • Experience in a multi-location, multi-entity, franchise, retail, construction, or similarly distributed business
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and applicable tax and regulatory obligations, including GST and HST
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software or ERP systems
  • High accuracy, organization, ownership, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines independently
  • Clear communicator who works effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • CPA designation or active progress toward a Canadian CPA designation
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online or a comparable cloud accounting platform
  • Experience supporting a franchise network or an organization operating across Canada and the United States
  • Experience enhancing accounting workflows, controls, or reporting through automation
  • Based in Metro Vancouver with the ability and willingness to commute
  • Authorization to work in Canada, including compliance with any conditions or expiry dates affecting ongoing part-time employment
