Description

  • Own the full lifecycle of backend Java services, from ideation and design reviews through development, testing, launch, and performance monitoring.
  • Partner with senior engineers, product owners, technical program managers, and business units to meet product and business needs.
  • Design effective solutions, lead code reviews, promote quality, and protect application stability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and set high standards for engineering practice.
  • Develop complex software, evaluate code changes, and recommend improvements.
  • Produce clean code that adds reliable features and capabilities.
  • Build reference implementations to support junior engineer mentoring.
  • Lead analysis, design, programming, debugging, and modifications for software improvements and new products.
  • Direct projects serving commercial and end-user applications, infrastructure, and technology platforms.
  • Conduct or guide application testing and debugging while identifying innovative solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, systems, and applications.
  • Work with users to clarify system requirements and define necessary changes.
  • Contribute to estimates and plans for sophisticated, scalable projects and budget allocations.
  • Track emerging technologies and provide informed recommendations.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of backend development or software engineering experience in a large enterprise using Java, Docker, and Spring Framework.
  • Comfort working in an agile environment.
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools, methods, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions with AWS managed services.
  • Strong experience with AWS services including ECS, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced software delivery and product launch environment.
  • Practical knowledge of design patterns and data structures.
  • Substantial experience with relational databases and NoSQL data stores.
  • Strong interest in open-source technology.
  • Effective communication skills and an interest in mentoring teammates and helping them succeed.
  • Bachelor’s degree, foreign equivalent, or comparable work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of performance testing and application profiling.
  • Experience with AI tools including RAG, Cursor, GitHub MCP, and MariaDB MCP.
  • At least 7 years of Java experience, including Spring Framework.
  • Experience with AWS services and deployments, EC2 and ECS containers, Elasticsearch caching, S3, Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, MariaDB/MySQL, Kinesis, and Developer Tools.
  • Experience with JUnit testing; JUnit 5 familiarity is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Firebase Test Lab and Sauce Labs Test Cloud.
  • Experience using GitLab, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor.
