Junior DevOps and BI Developer (Remote, United States)

Support a federal IT modernization project by developing AI-enabled applications and contributing to Azure DevOps, databases, Power BI, and Agile delivery. This junior role combines software development, DevOps, business intelligence, and data support.

Description

  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications with modern frameworks and programming languages.
  • Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines, support automated testing, and assist with deployments alongside the Azure DevOps Engineer.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI or comparable platforms.
  • Maintain relational and non-relational databases while supporting data modeling and SQL query development.
  • Work with senior developers, the Solution Architect, DevOps Engineer, and Data Scientists on project delivery.
  • Take part in peer code reviews to support code quality and team standards.
  • Document code, data flows, and processes to enable knowledge sharing and meet compliance needs.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Apply federal data security requirements and secure development practices.
  • Support a federal client’s business and IT modernization initiative focused on an AI-enabled application.

Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain a DOI Public Trust Moderate Clearance.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, Green Card holder, or Employment Authorization Document holder with at least three years of continuous U.S. residency.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with React, Angular, Vue.js, .NET Core, Node.js, or C#.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational database principles.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Exposure to CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Basic knowledge of Docker or containerization.
  • Interest in or experience with Azure Kubernetes Service or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience using Git or another version control system.
  • Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence and data visualization experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to create SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with data modeling and dashboard or report development.
  • Exposure to ETL processes is advantageous.
  • Motivation to learn and develop in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Reliable attendance and occasional availability outside standard business hours when required.
  • Agile/Scrum familiarity is advantageous.
  • CMMI familiarity is advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience or certifications may be considered.
  • One to three years of overall IT or software development experience.
  • At least one year of hands-on application development experience.
  • At least one year of experience with DevOps tools or CI/CD.
  • At least one year of BI or reporting tools experience preferred.
  • Exposure to cloud development, preferably Azure.
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum development preferred.
  • Federal IT or government contracting experience is helpful but not required.
