Java Engineering Manager — Remote in Ukraine
Lead B2Spin’s Java Data Activation teams as the company expands its free-to-play social casino platform. Own delivery, engineering quality, reliability, and team development.
Description
- Guide the Data Activation teams through the continued growth of B2Spin’s free-to-play social casino platform
- Align priorities across functions to support dependable, on-time delivery
- Run performance discussions, encourage career progression, and address people-related issues
- Set practical direction for architecture, code quality, and technical decision-making
- Work with product managers, analysts, and other stakeholders to shape initiatives and clear obstacles
- Refine planning and collaboration practices as the organization expands
- Direct incident handling and root-cause investigations
- Ensure agreed improvements are delivered to increase platform resilience
Requirements
- Extensive backend engineering experience with strong command of the Java ecosystem
- Solid understanding of core software engineering principles
- Track record of building and running scalable, event-driven, cloud-native systems under high load
- Experience managing teams responsible for complex production software
- Able to combine technical leadership with effective people management
- Operational experience in production, including incident handling and post-incident reviews
- Able to contribute to product discussions, expose engineering risks, and find delivery gaps
- Skilled at estimating scope, aligning stakeholders, and explaining technical trade-offs
- Frontend development experience is advantageous
- Experience in iGaming, fintech, or another high-volume, real-time domain is advantageous
- Experience moving from senior individual contributor work into people management is advantageous
- Practical experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, or Google Cloud Platform is advantageous
- Familiarity with Java 25, Spring Boot 4, Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Kafka, AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, Redis, Memcached, Valkey, GitHub, ELK, Sentry, Grafana, Jira, Confluence, and Slack
- Comfortable contributing within an engineering organization that uses AI extensively
