Head of Content — Letterboxd (Auckland, Hybrid)

Lead Letterboxd’s editorial, social, video, and audience strategy for its global film community. Build scalable content operations that support audience growth and commercial collaboration.

Description

  • Set Letterboxd’s long-term strategy across editorial, social, video, and audience channels
  • Use audience insights, platform trends, and performance data to guide priorities and investment
  • Unify the Editorial, Social, Production, and Studio Relations teams into one integrated content function
  • Direct planning, publishing calendars, and production workflows across newsletters, JOURNAL, social channels, and video platforms
  • Develop original formats, franchises, and storytelling approaches
  • Partner with Design to maintain visual consistency and high-quality creative execution
  • Apply audience, platform, and performance insights to strengthen content reach and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Advertising, Partnerships, and Marketing on branded content, sponsorships, and commercial projects
  • Align audience growth and editorial quality with commercial results
  • Coach and support the Heads of Editorial, Social, Production, and Studio Relations
  • Uphold editorial standards, publishing procedures, ethical guidelines, and quality controls
  • Oversee content budgets, production investment, and resource planning

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in audience-led content businesses, including media, publishing, digital content, or audience leadership
  • Experience managing editorial, social, and content production teams
  • Demonstrated success growing audiences through owned, earned, and social channels
  • Background in film, television, media, entertainment, sport, lifestyle, or another culturally relevant consumer sector
  • Strong knowledge of content performance, audience development, and digital publishing
  • Experience partnering with advertising, sponsorship, marketing, or branded content teams
  • Commercial judgment with the ability to link content investment to business outcomes
  • Genuine interest in film, television, and the communities built around them
  • Strong editorial judgment and cultural awareness
  • Advanced understanding of digital publishing, social media, newsletters, and video platforms
  • Knowledge of engagement drivers across varied audiences and content formats
  • Ability to balance audience expectations, commercial priorities, and editorial integrity
  • Ability to create scalable content systems while preserving quality
  • Calm, curious, and confident when working in fast-changing environments
