Mecka
Mecka

Mecka builds infrastructure for Physical AI, helping robotics and embodied-AI teams turn real-world human activity into systems that can learn, be evaluated, and operate reliably outside the lab. Its Egoverse platform combines large-scale egocentric datasets with telemetry across vision, depth, tactile sensing, motion, and localization.

Through developer tools, APIs, and enterprise services, Mecka supports the evaluation and deployment of task-specific robotic systems. The company works with hardware OEMs, model developers, and commercial partners, providing the data and operational layer for robotics without manufacturing robots itself.

Hardware and Firmware Engineer, Robotics

Build embedded Linux and Android software for Mecka’s robotics data systems. Improve camera capture, device reliability, performance, and recovery on physical hardware.

Description

  • Develop and debug embedded Linux and Android software on capture hardware, from initial board setup through deployment.
  • Create dependable services and data flows that protect recordings during extended sessions and interruptions.
  • Measure and improve performance, power use, resource consumption, and recovery behavior.
  • Reproduce field issues with hardware and test engineers, then verify fixes across supported device configurations.
  • Take ownership of critical software across development and deployment, specializing in camera systems or device platforms.
  • Develop camera capabilities such as Linux drivers, Android camera interfaces, capture and encoding, sensor synchronization, buffering, storage throughput, and sustained recording; or build device platform features such as boot and system images, provisioning, device identity, remote updates, rollback, and recovery from interrupted installations.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in C or C++.
  • Proficiency with Python or shell scripting for embedded development.
  • Knowledge of Linux or Android internals, including processes, threads, memory management, input/output, filesystems, and system-level debugging.
  • Practical experience developing and troubleshooting software on ARM or similar embedded hardware.
  • Ability to profile resource use and reason about concurrency, timing, data integrity, and recovery from failures.
  • Experience producing reproducible software releases and testing under realistic hardware and operating conditions.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as V4L2, GStreamer, camera ISPs, AOSP, Android HALs, Yocto, Buildroot, signed updates, or hardware-in-the-loop testing is preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the location where the role is posted.
