GIS Technician – Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)

Leidos is seeking a GIS Technician to support electric utility distribution projects in a hybrid Raleigh role. The position focuses on updating field construction data, correcting inconsistencies, and coordinating with utility clients and engineering teams.

Description

  • Support complex and high-priority electric distribution projects and data maintenance using GIS and CAD tools
  • Update GIS records with field construction details from as-built drawings, work management logs, and related documentation
  • Investigate data discrepancies and coordinate accurate updates to client systems
  • Collect, process, and modify GIS data for state and municipal areas
  • Contribute within an Agile delivery team
  • Communicate directly with local clients
  • Coordinate with Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural teams
  • Support utility clients across the United States

Requirements

  • Complete 30 credit hours in a GIS-related program at an accredited university, hold a Bachelor of Science while enrolled in a GIS certification program, or have a high school diploma with two years of relevant GIS work experience
  • Knowledge of client standards is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to perform both field-based and office-based work
  • Availability for approximately 10–20% overnight travel
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
  • Experience using at least one GIS or CAD application
  • Experience with GIS platforms such as Smallworld, Esri Suite, or QGIS
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Bentley MicroStation or Autodesk AutoCAD, Maya, or Civil 3D
