Full Stack Developer — Philippines Remote

Join an Australian digital learning company to build MERN-based learning creation and marketplace products. You’ll work across React, Node.js, MongoDB, subscriptions, authentication, and AI-powered features.

Description

  • Own full-stack development from MongoDB data models and Express APIs through React interfaces
  • Learn and take responsibility for the existing 3rd Digital codebase
  • Run applications locally and understand their repositories, environments, and services
  • Document setup procedures, architecture, processes, and technical decisions
  • Build and resolve features in Genesis, TMRW’s learning creation platform
  • Develop Genesis’s drag-and-drop learning editor
  • Build and maintain interactive learning objects such as flip cards, hotspots, accordions, video, 3D, and parallax components
  • Maintain SCORM 1.2 export and preview capabilities for client learning management systems
  • Contribute to SensAI, TMRW’s AI-assisted course-writing tool powered by the OpenAI API
  • Build and maintain Cosmos Public, the creator-focused Next.js learning marketplace
  • Develop features for learning experiences, pricing, delivery methods, and subscriptions
  • Maintain subscription and billing capabilities for learner and creator plans
  • Use Stripe to manage subscription payments and invoices
  • Design and update Mongoose models, database queries, indexes, and REST API endpoints
  • Maintain and extend the shared Node.js and Express backend
  • Support authentication and session management, including email/password login, Google sign-in, magic links, and two-factor authentication
  • Build and maintain administration tools for users, content, analytics, and master data
  • Work across legacy React applications as well as newer React 18/19 and Next.js applications
  • Improve or upgrade legacy code and dependencies safely
  • Introduce automated tests where coverage is limited or unavailable
  • Thoroughly test work before submitting it for review
  • Use Git feature branches and Bitbucket pull requests
  • Communicate progress, blockers, risks, and technical concerns clearly and promptly
  • Deliver against priorities and timelines agreed with the CEO

Requirements

  • At least three years of commercial experience developing full-stack JavaScript applications
  • Strong Node.js and Express experience, including REST API development, authentication, and session management
  • Strong MongoDB and Mongoose experience covering schema design, indexing, queries, existing data, and migrations
  • Strong React and Redux experience across older Create React App codebases, React 18/19 applications, and Next.js
  • Ability to work effectively in existing codebases with limited documentation and test coverage
  • Strong Git knowledge, including feature branches, pull requests, and submodules
  • Clear written English and the ability to provide effective asynchronous updates to an Australian team
  • Knowledge of e-learning technologies and standards such as SCORM, xAPI, or LMS integrations is desirable
  • Familiarity with drag-and-drop and rich-text editors such as GrapesJS, Craft.js, Tiptap, or CKEditor is desirable
  • Experience with Stripe subscriptions, billing, and tiered plans is desirable
  • Experience integrating OpenAI or other LLM APIs is desirable
  • Experience developing Electron or Capacitor applications is desirable
  • Experience with Jest or React Testing Library, along with modernizing older dependencies, is desirable
  • Experience with interactive front-end libraries such as GSAP, Lottie, or three.js is desirable
  • Experience working with AI coding assistants is desirable
  • Existing ongoing roles or client work must be disclosed
  • This engagement must be listed on LinkedIn as “Independent Contractor”
