Field Service Engineer – Procurement (Onsite)

Procure, install, configure, and manage server and simulator hardware for federal technology programs. Support inventory control, testing, configuration, and material management activities.

Description

  • Assess the design and performance of advanced information technology systems
  • Install, configure, and test server hardware—including CPUs, RAM, storage, and network cards—for training simulator systems
  • Assemble and install simulator equipment, including computer racks, computers, network infrastructure, and support systems
  • Assist with hardware upgrades, replacements, and repairs
  • Review technical documentation to confirm equipment suitability within system designs
  • Develop and maintain technical requirements, define system components, and prepare CAD-based technical drawings
  • Support system installations, interface testing, operational verification, troubleshooting, technical issue assessments, and technical reports and presentations
  • Prepare and process material requests based on engineering, production, and program needs
  • Create, route, and monitor purchase requisitions and purchase orders in Costpoint
  • Work with corporate buyers to provide complete, accurate requirements for vendor sourcing and quotations
  • Monitor order progress, delivery timelines, and lead times
  • Handle material management activities, including packaging and hardware inspections, purchase-order verification, receipt inspections, RMAs, reships and replacements, and receipt and issuance tracking in MRP/Costpoint
  • Oversee daily hardware inventory and property management activities
  • Support the creation and maintenance of As-Built Lists, Bills of Material, and configuration records
  • Maintain configuration management documents and data packages, keeping physical hardware, documentation, and inventory systems aligned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 1–2 years of college or comparable related work experience
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Understanding of server components such as CPUs, RAM, and storage
  • Familiarity with server models and rack types
  • Ability to safely lift and install servers in racks
  • Knowledge of appropriate screw selection and mounting practices
  • Experience with or familiarity with Ethernet, power, and fiber cabling
  • Understanding of effective cable management practices
  • Awareness of electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions
  • Knowledge of basic safety procedures for lifting and working around equipment
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams or follow wiring instructions
