Engineering Manager, Distributed P2P Systems (Remote in Poland)
Lead engineering teams building distributed peer-to-peer infrastructure for a decentralized compute and storage platform. Shape architecture, delivery, and technical execution while remaining engaged in complex systems engineering.
Description
- Lead, coach, and expand a high-performing team of distributed systems and backend engineers
- Set the technical direction and oversee delivery for core P2P, compute, and distributed platform capabilities
- Remain hands-on across architecture, design, implementation, and technical troubleshooting
- Lead the development of high-throughput protocols for peer discovery, communication, replication, and data distribution
- Oversee systems for compute orchestration, provisioning, scaling, and workload placement
- Drive platform reliability, resilience, observability, and operational readiness
- Define engineering practices for testing, CI/CD, releases, incident response, and root-cause analysis
- Partner with Infrastructure, Product, Security, and Platform teams on roadmaps, priorities, and dependencies
- Conduct 1:1 meetings, retrospectives, performance reviews, and career development discussions
- Convert technical and business priorities into execution plans with measurable results
- Promote ownership, technical quality, practical decision-making, and continuous improvement
- Apply RFCs, documented technical decisions, automated tests, production validation, observability, regular releases, retrospectives, and post-incident reviews
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience
- At least 3 years in engineering management or technical leadership
- Demonstrated success leading teams that build and operate distributed systems or infrastructure software in production
- Strong knowledge of P2P and distributed systems, including peer discovery, DHTs, gossip protocols, NAT traversal, replication, consensus, or content-addressed systems
- Strong backend and systems programming skills, preferably in Go, or alternatively C, C++, or Rust
- Solid grasp of concurrency, networking, distributed communication, and fault-tolerant design
- Experience with compute orchestration, distributed storage, distributed databases, or platform infrastructure
- Familiarity with libp2p, gRPC, Protobuf, IPFS/CIDs, Kubernetes, or containerized infrastructure
- Experience operating production systems with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or distributed tracing
- Strong understanding of Linux systems and networking fundamentals
- Experience setting engineering standards for automated testing, CI/CD, release management, and incident response
- Sound technical judgment across hands-on engineering, people management, and strategic decisions
- Excellent written and spoken communication
- Effectiveness in remote, asynchronous collaboration
- Professional proficiency in English
