Embedded Systems Software Engineer – Oklahoma Remote

Develop firmware and connected technologies for IDEX Corporation’s industrial fluid-handling products. Work across Linux, RTOS, mobile, IoT, and cloud platforms.

Description

  • Shape long-term technical direction, engineering decisions, and team culture
  • Assess customer needs, market trends, and technical risks to inform product strategy
  • Design innovative systems for strategic initiatives, including new product development
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, encourage continuous learning, and advise engineering teams
  • Own the software development lifecycle from concept through release
  • Define system architectures and technical requirements
  • Create algorithms and develop object-oriented firmware and embedded applications
  • Conduct verification and validation to support product quality and reliability
  • Use Agile, SDLC, SEBoK, and PLM methodologies
  • Build and maintain development tools and engineering processes
  • Conduct competitive analysis and address barriers to efficient execution
  • Explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals
  • Coordinate complex issue resolution and develop strategies aligned with stakeholders
  • Travel of up to 10% may be required
  • This role has no supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering is required
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in industrial manufacturing is required
  • At least 3–5 years of object-oriented software development with Rust, Python, Java/JavaScript, C++, and C#
  • At least 3–5 years of application development for embedded Linux, Android, and iOS
  • At least 3–5 years of Linux system administration and support experience
  • At least 3–5 years of experience with IDEs such as Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse
  • At least 3–5 years of implementing RTOS for MCU-based control systems
  • At least 3–5 years of developing and integrating RS232/485, CAN, MQTT, Modbus, and Ethernet protocols
  • At least 3–5 years of working with MCU peripherals, including UART, USB, GPIO, I2C, SPI, PWM, timers, eMMC, and SoM architectures
  • Demonstrated ability to architect, implement, and deploy complex technical solutions
  • Proficiency with Bitbucket/Git, Jenkins, Docker, Jira, and SonarQube static analysis
  • Ability to interpret hardware schematics for debugging
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, and cloud microservices involving Digital Twin, SaaS, PaaS, DaaS, and data lakes
  • Electromechanical experience with industrial or automotive products is preferred
  • A master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or electrical engineering is preferred
