Electrical Engineering Intern — Hanover, NH

Join Hypertherm Associates in Hanover, New Hampshire, to help test, analyze, and improve plasma and waterjet cutting systems. The internship combines product engineering, validation, documentation, and cross-functional problem-solving.

Description

  • Help advance plasma and waterjet cutting systems through design updates and engineering changes
  • Assess replacement mechanical components in response to obsolescence, availability, and supply chain concerns
  • Support product testing, data interpretation, and validation work
  • Investigate product, manufacturing, and field issues using structured troubleshooting and root-cause methods
  • Work with teams across design and manufacturing engineering, procurement, quality, regulatory, reliability, and supply chain
  • Prepare and update engineering records related to product revisions and change management
  • Support engineering changes from design revision and documentation through testing and implementation
  • Assist with New Product Development projects as organizational priorities require
  • Lead an engineering project, apply problem-solving methods, communicate results, and present recommendations to engineering leaders and cross-functional partners

Requirements

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At junior or senior standing, with at least two years of coursework completed
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and a practical approach to solving problems
  • Comfort working independently as well as with multidisciplinary teams
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and drafting conventions is preferred
  • Exposure to product design, manufacturing, testing, or engineering projects through coursework, internships, clubs, or personal work is preferred
  • Interest in industrial equipment, product development, and manufacturing settings is preferred
