Electrical Engineer, Power Studies Associate Intern

Support electrical power system studies as an engineering intern, including power factor, harmonics, grounding, short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash analysis. Contribute to engineering and field-service projects through design work, troubleshooting, customer coordination, and hands-on site support.

Description

  • Conduct electrical studies for domestic and international projects, covering power factor, harmonics, grounding, short circuits, protective device coordination, and arc flash.
  • Support engineering design, analysis, and study assignments.
  • Design and troubleshoot protective relaying and control systems.
  • Provide occasional field-service support during shutdowns, startups, installations, and maintenance work.
  • Engage customers to collect essential project information.
  • Review engineering plans and documentation.
  • Build and sustain professional customer relationships.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering and field-service teams in hands-on work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Educational focus in power systems studies is preferred.
  • Willingness to work hands-on in the field alongside field technicians.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to communicate directly with customers and coworkers.
  • Knowledge or strong understanding of protective relay projects, short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc-flash analysis, and power quality studies is a plus.
  • Utility design experience is a plus.
