Description

  • Design, deploy and operate enterprise compute, storage and virtualisation platforms.
  • Assist with the physical installation and connectivity of servers, network equipment and storage systems.
  • Coordinate cabling and hardware deployments with external partners.
  • Administer virtualisation environments through troubleshooting, performance monitoring, capacity planning and availability management.
  • Track system performance and environmental conditions, escalate emerging issues and follow established operating procedures.
  • Contribute to incident, problem, change and lifecycle processes, including participation in the on-call rotation.
  • Support disaster recovery, platform resilience and business continuity initiatives.
  • Deploy, configure and maintain enterprise storage solutions.
  • Develop automation and Infrastructure as Code to simplify operations and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain and diagnose existing automation workflows while contributing to proofs of concept for emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams through meetings, technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
  • Help integrate hybrid cloud capabilities with existing Data Centre services.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience engineering enterprise Data Centre environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of compute, storage, virtualisation, operating systems and backup technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualisation platforms and their management ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of storage protocols, data protection, replication and high-availability principles.
  • Understanding of infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning and performance optimisation.
  • Experience developing scripts, automation and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid operating models.
  • Understanding of security baselines, privileged access controls and infrastructure hardening.
  • Experience operating critical platforms within a structured production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Typically six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise suited to the role.
  • Strong grasp of platform reliability, security, resilience and operational excellence.
  • Experience working within incident, problem, change and lifecycle management processes.
  • Ability to document technical solutions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, professional development and relevant industry certifications.
  • A collaborative engineering mindset focused on continuous improvement and automation.
