Cribl and Splunk Engineer Remote United States

Valiant Solutions is seeking a remote Cribl and Splunk Engineer to build secure data pipelines, manage cybersecurity infrastructure, and support compliance-focused logging operations. The role emphasizes ingestion, performance optimization, system integration, incident response, documentation, and Cribl/Splunk upgrades.

Description

  • Build and implement Splunk ingestion processes for diverse data sources with Cribl Edge and Cribl Cloud
  • Manage log, metric, and event inputs to assess compliance with OMB M-26-14 requirements at FISMA system boundaries
  • Maintain secure, dependable connections between Splunk and external systems through Cribl Edge and Cribl Cloud
  • Monitor failed data inputs and maintain related alerts
  • Recommend Cribl configurations that improve performance and reduce costs
  • Implement cost-efficient log storage strategies aligned with OMB M-26-14 standards
  • Administer Cribl and Splunk infrastructure for strong performance and security
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve Cribl/Splunk issues
  • Analyze incident root causes and introduce preventive controls
  • Monitor platform health and performance to identify defects, issues, and improvement opportunities
  • Create, review, and maintain SOPs, job aids, application checklists, playbooks, and other operational documentation
  • Support access-control practices covering account management, access enforcement, information-flow enforcement, least privilege, and account request and recertification workflows
  • Work with SOC teams on process improvement, tool tuning and integration, information sharing, playbook creation, and incident response
  • Implement, administer, operate, maintain, optimize, and integrate cybersecurity tools, technologies, and services
  • Perform recurring Cribl/Splunk Enterprise upgrades for worker nodes, deployment servers, heavy forwarders, and syslog servers

Requirements

  • At least four years of information technology experience
  • A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or two additional years of experience
  • Three or more years of Splunk administration or engineering experience
  • Proficiency configuring Splunk inputs, building ingestion pipelines, and connecting systems
  • Knowledge of Splunk Search Processing Language, data parsing, and regular expressions for data extraction and transformation
  • Ability to optimize pipelines for performance and efficiency, manage high data volumes, and apply data integrity and consistency practices
  • Cribl Certified Service Consultant or Cribl Certified Engineer certification preferred
  • Cribl Certified Admin certification for Stream and/or Edge accepted
  • Splunk Enterprise or Splunk Cloud Certified Admin certification is a bonus
  • Experience leading an engineering team and representing its work to clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including effective task prioritization and execution
