Description

  • Create and edit public-facing content about shipbuilding, national security, and HII’s mission
  • Support digital communications for external, internal, and social media platforms
  • Manage content across HII’s internal and external channels for accuracy, timeliness, and strategic alignment
  • Produce engaging stories about HII’s people, programs, and innovations
  • Contribute to crisis communications planning and response
  • Prepare communications and security plans for media visits and support on-site engagements
  • Work with teams across the enterprise, including occasional travel to milestone events and trade shows
  • Build knowledge of HII’s mission, workforce, and industry to develop strong media, stakeholder, and public relationships
  • Support corporate reputation, program capture, and strategic business initiatives
  • Provide communications support for major shipbuilding milestones
  • Promote HII’s mission, purpose, scale, and career opportunities to help attract talent

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent education, training, and experience, plus six years of progressive professional or supervisory experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with four years of relevant experience
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Background in the defense and aeronautical industries
  • Experience in media relations and issues management
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
  • Proficiency with AP style
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing a 24-hour news cycle
