Civil Engineering Co-op Student, Toronto

Support AtkinsRéalis construction teams at Toronto sites with quality checks, project records, inspections, and field measurements. Help prepare drawings and safety documents, verify construction work, and record subcontractor meeting outcomes.

Description

  • Interpret design drawings and project specifications.
  • Keep document tracking logs and technical records up to date in Microsoft Excel.
  • Build and maintain Excel spreadsheets and graphs.
  • Review and interpret data for quality records.
  • Draft construction work method statements and job hazard analyses for review by the Senior Project Coordinator.
  • Take field measurements, carry out construction layout, and verify completed work.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections with the site quality inspector and design engineer representative.
  • Complete quality inspection checklists in Aconex.
  • Support the Construction Superintendent and Foreman with on-site tasks.
  • Attend subcontractor meetings and prepare minutes.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in civil engineering.
  • Be enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution in an 8–12-month civil engineering co-op program.
  • Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Have knowledge of scheduling.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Show strong attention to detail and identify discrepancies.
  • Bring a strong work ethic and high motivation.
  • Be able to read and understand project specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Have good problem-solving skills.
  • Have strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be comfortable working in the field for much of the workday.
  • Be comfortable working at heights.
