Casual Health Assistant (Nursing) – Melbourne Onsite

Join the casual bank at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, supporting nurses with supervised patient care. Assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, transfers, positioning and elimination needs.

Description

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary ward team under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager or an equivalent leader
  • Provide support to Registered and Enrolled Nurses
  • Carry out supervised or delegated duties accurately and in line with St Vincent's policies and procedures
  • Assist with delegated patient care, including personal hygiene, nutrition, mobility, transfers, positioning and elimination needs
  • Protect each patient's privacy and dignity at all times

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Health Assistance (Nursing), or equivalent completion of the second year of a Bachelor or Master of Nursing
  • Hold a current National Criminal History check or be willing to obtain one
  • Hold a current National Disability Insurance Scheme check or be willing to obtain one
  • Be available to work at least one shift every three calendar months
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients and families
  • Be a reliable team member who can work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Be willing to complete mandatory immunisations or vaccinations, including influenza vaccination, if required
