Capital Markets Assistant General Counsel

Advise Regions Bank’s Real Estate Capital Markets team on legal documentation, regulatory compliance, and commercial real estate lending matters. Support FNMA, Freddie Mac, and HUD loan products.

Description

  • Oversee legal and documentation matters for the Real Estate Capital Markets (RECM) team
  • Collaborate with Capital Markets legal and compliance partners
  • Deliver legal guidance and ongoing support to the RECM team
  • Negotiate transaction and related legal documents
  • Direct relationships with external counsel
  • Advise underwriting staff on legal matters involving FNMA, Freddie Mac, HUD, and other RECM products
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Help ensure RECM activities meet applicable legal and regulatory standards
  • Work within Regions’ corporate governance framework and policies
  • Identify potential risks while addressing legal, reputational, and shareholder considerations
  • Monitor developments and trends across the market

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree
  • At least six years of commercial real estate lending legal experience in financial services, law-firm experience with strong bank-regulation knowledge, or comparable practical legal experience
  • Active license in good standing to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
  • Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements governing commercial real estate
  • Ability to evaluate facts, explain complex issues clearly, and provide concise, practical legal advice
  • Ability to establish effective partnerships with business colleagues and support business outcomes
  • Capacity to manage a high-volume workload and make timely, pragmatic decisions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Advanced analytical, research, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective time management and project planning skills
