Associate Civil and Structural Design Engineer - Omaha Onsite

Design utility products for Valmont’s power transmission and distribution infrastructure as an associate civil and structural engineer. Support analysis, quoting, manufacturing, and customer-specific engineering deliverables.

Description

  • Conduct structural analysis and design with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other engineering software
  • Use engineering principles, standard procedures, and industry codes to complete assigned designs
  • Interpret customer specifications and convert requirements into practical, manufacturable designs
  • Provide engineering assistance to drafting, sales, quoting, and project teams
  • Explain technical information clearly to internal stakeholders and customers
  • Support engineering pricing and quotation activities
  • Work with manufacturing to promote efficient, cost-effective production of designs
  • Recommend improvements to engineering processes and team effectiveness
  • Report to the Site Engineering Supervisor or Manager
  • Develop through senior-engineer guidance and design reviews
  • Help drafters, project administrators, and other internal teams review and interpret designs
  • Coordinate daily tasks with team members to meet project milestones and improve workflow
  • Maintain limited customer contact by phone, email, and occasional site visits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline, plus 0–2 years of experience
  • Technical capability in structural engineering
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and professional communication with varied audiences
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to solve complex problems accurately in a fast-paced environment with defined deadlines
  • Engineer-in-Training certificate preferred
  • CAD skills preferred
  • Knowledge of or exposure to computer programming preferred
  • Ability to communicate positively with coworkers and contribute effectively to a team environment preferred
