Description

  • Create and improve Android applications with Kotlin and current Android frameworks
  • Lead complex Android features from initial discovery through production monitoring
  • Guide decisions covering Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, architecture, modularization, networking, persistence, and dependency management
  • Document technical approaches, including tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and migration paths
  • Develop accessible, responsive interfaces alongside product design and research teams
  • Expand unit, integration, UI, and end-to-end automated test coverage
  • Improve observability, performance, crash stability, security, privacy, and release readiness
  • Coordinate with backend and platform teams on APIs, offline functionality, authentication, experimentation, and analytics
  • Work with iOS engineers to align product behavior and mobile engineering standards
  • Review code, mentor teammates, and strengthen technical decision-making
  • Contribute to planning, estimation, incident response, and ongoing improvements to mobile delivery

Requirements

  • At least six years of professional software engineering experience, including significant ownership of production Android applications; equivalent experience is also considered
  • Advanced Kotlin expertise and strong command of Android SDK fundamentals, Jetpack libraries, coroutines, and reactive state management
  • Professional experience with Jetpack Compose, including state handling, navigation, performance, testing, and View interoperability
  • Proven judgment in making architecture decisions and safely evolving established codebases
  • Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, local data persistence, background processing, authentication, analytics, and push notifications
  • Strong testing and debugging practices, using crash, performance, and product telemetry to inform technical decisions
  • Experience releasing applications through Google Play, overseeing staged rollouts, and addressing production incidents
  • Effective written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical collaborators
  • Demonstrated success mentoring colleagues and improving team practices through example and influence
  • Practical experience reviewing and making focused changes in Swift, SwiftUI, and/or UIKit
  • Familiarity with Xcode, the iOS app lifecycle, navigation, concurrency, testing, code signing, and App Store release processes
  • Ability to assess Android and iOS implementation tradeoffs without imposing identical architectures or interface patterns
  • Experience shaping shared mobile conventions, API contracts, design systems, analytics taxonomies, or cross-platform feature parity
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Must satisfy eligibility requirements for classified-information access and be able to obtain a government security clearance
  • Must complete a government security investigation and may undergo background investigation, drug testing, and creditworthiness review
  • Preferred experience includes reliability-sensitive mobile products; Kotlin Multiplatform or another selective code-sharing approach; mobile CI/CD, build optimization, feature flags, experimentation, and automated release tooling; mobile security, privacy, accessibility standards, and threat modeling; and migrations such as Views to Compose, monoliths to modules, or legacy asynchronous code to coroutines
